// Skip tracing
How to verify a skip-traced list before you dial
A raw skip-trace export is full of dead and wrong-party numbers. Here's the verify-and-scrub workflow that turns it into a list you can actually call.
The short answer
To verify a skip-traced list, dedupe the rows, confirm each email is deliverable, validate each phone and its line type to drop disconnected and reassigned numbers, and scrub against the National Do-Not-Call Registry before any marketing call or text. Verification is what turns a raw match into a usable, compliant contact.
Why a raw list isn't dialable
A skip-trace tool reports a match rate, but a match isn't a confirmed contact. The same export repeats a property across rows, carries numbers that went dead months ago, and includes lines registered on Do-Not-Call. Verification is the pass that separates the matches you can actually use from the ones that only look like usable data.
The order of operations
- Dedupe so you call each owner once, not once per property row.
- Verify emails for deliverability and drop the invalid ones.
- Validate each phone and its line type, removing disconnected and reassigned numbers.
- DNC-scrub against the national registry before the first marketing dial or text.
Match rate isn't the same as usable
Your skip-trace tool reports a match rate that counts anything it returned. Verification is what reveals the usable rate underneath it, which is why two lists with the same match rate can perform very differently once the dead numbers are stripped out.
Where Trackyr fits
You can run verification and DNC scrubbing in your CRM, a standalone verifier, or a dedicated list-hygiene tool. Trackyr is one option that does all four steps on an uploaded list and bills only for checks that return a result, then exports to CSV or webhook. The point isn't the tool; it's running the pass somewhere before the first dial.
// Common questions
Answered.
How do I clean up a skip-traced list?+
Dedupe the rows, verify the emails, validate the phone numbers and line type, and DNC-scrub against the national registry before you dial. Trackyr runs all four on an uploaded list and exports the clean result.
Why verify a skip-traced list if the tool already matched it?+
Because a match isn't a usable number. The tool counts any returned data toward its match rate, including disconnected and wrong-party lines. Verifying strips those out so you dial numbers that actually reach the right person.
