Credit Header Data
The identifying information at the top of a credit file: name, aliases, addresses, and SSN, not the credit score.
Definition
Credit header data is the identity portion at the top of a credit file: legal name, past names, current and former addresses, date of birth, and Social Security number. It isn't the score or account history, so it isn't a consumer report under the FCRA, but it's the most reliable way to tie a person to a current address and phone. It's nonpublic personal information under the GLBA, so access is credentialed.
Common questions
Is credit header data a consumer report?+
No. It's the identifying data at the top of a credit file, not the score or tradelines, so it falls outside the FCRA's consumer-report definition. It's still protected as nonpublic personal information under the GLBA.
