Pretexting
Obtaining someone's financial or personal data by impersonation, a federal crime under GLBA.
Definition
Pretexting is getting information by pretending to be someone you're not, such as calling a bank posing as the customer to confirm an address. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (§6821) makes obtaining financial information by false pretenses a federal crime, so it's one of the clearest illegal skip-tracing methods, distinct from legitimate work on public and licensed data.
Put pretexting to work.
